A truly ‘marvellous’ day at the Superhero Triathlon

Last month we announced that Park Lane’s Sophie and Woody were teaming up with equestrian influencer Esme Higgs to take part in a triathlon to raise funds for the RDA. So how did it go?

We had no clue what to expect but in true Park Lane style we just went for it! It was a real carnival and another great example of ‘it’s what you can do that counts’.

Spending the day with ‘ThisEsme’ was so exciting for our young people and she really got stuck in. Our Sophie is super fit and Esme managed to keep up with her swimming and running.

Woody shocked us all including himself by leaping off the pontoon and swimming his heart out. Our superhero young people ran with him while he cycled like a pro. There was a hairy moment when he did not want to get off the bike but he was persuaded and then ran like the clappers.

Lewis completed the run in his wheelchair along with Ali dog and it was hugs all round with Clare Balding as we crossed the line.

There were so many stand out moments to treasure, including us all dancing at the warm up together and the real feeling of team work. Everyone played to their strengths to make it happen. I was bursting with pride at the end for all the selflessness of our volunteers and the huge efforts of our participants.

What a perfectly special day!

We’re so proud of our team for raising over £3,000 for the RDA. They’d set themselves a tough target of £5,000. Between us can we help to get them there? Their JustGiving page is still open!
