Could you gift a bale of hay or a bag of haylage for our horses’ winter larder?
The dry spring and hot dry summer have meant that we – like farmers and horse-owners everywhere – have had to buy hay and haylage as pastures died back.
Normally nature provides fresh grass throughout the summer, but that hasn’t happened this year, and we’ve had to raid the hay stocks laid in for winter.
Now with the colder months around the corner we need to stockpile feed to see us through. This means hay bales as well as the haylage and chaff needed for more sensitive stomachs (which includes all of our ‘oldies’ who need the extra nutrition that hay alone can’t provide).
Could you gift us a bale or a bag to help feed our ponies over the coming months? We use 60 small bales of hay per week in the summer but many more in the winter months. And 10 bags of haylage and 4 bags of chaff every week. It all adds up to a small fortune so any gifts of bags or bales make a fantastic difference to our everyday running costs.
