British Equestrian publishes compelling research into the benefits of interaction with horses

The Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) and the Pony Club were two organisations singled out for attention, with demonstrable and significant benefits to its members.

At a launch event at Saddlers’ Hall in London, speakers shared their experience of horses improving lives. Natalie was joined on the speakers’ panel by Park Lane Stables volunteer Laura, who is a perfect example of what horses and people can achieve together. Laura was referred to us by her social worker in 2021 in mental health crisis. She initially came with a support worker and stayed for an hour just being with the horses. We watched her grow in confidence until she was volunteering on her own for full days, and is now on the pathway to becoming a coach.

Natalie says: “I was beyond proud of her for sharing her journey in this forum and I am sure it will inspire others who are struggling.”

British Equestrianism: “The findings are clear, equestrian activity generates £1.2billion in social value each year through increases in life satisfaction and supporting public health.”
