Remembering Monty Roberts

We were so saddened to hear that Monty Roberts has died.

Monty was an incredible horseman known for his ability to listen to horses and for treating them with empathy, patience and respect.

The stables is modelled on his principles (widely referred to as natural horsemanship) and just as Monty did, we strive to give our horses a voice and commit to listening to what they’re telling us.

Park Lane Stables’ volunteer Marcel Olivé, our very own ‘horse whisperer’, trained with Monty at his ranch in California. Watching the connection he achieves when he’s working with any horse is wonderful – and a perfect example of Monty’s techniques living on.

Back in 2022, Marcel sent a letter from California to Prodney, who decided to share it with all of us in his blog. Having just re-read it, it feels fitting that we give you another chance to read Last week I received a letter from California

Thank you, Monty, for everything you did to give horses a voice. We hope that the way we treat our horses will help your legacy live on.
