Our Teddington Stables shortlisted for RIBA London award

We love our renovated Park Lane Stables, and now the building and its architect are on the shortlist for a prestigious RIBA London award.

When we first met Sam Kamleh of Teddington-based Architecture WK Ltd we knew she was the perfect partner to work with us to renovate our listed stable building. Her practice has a strong focus on community projects, on sustainability, and on upgrading existing structures wherever possible.

Now the gorgeous renovation that we are proud to call home, and where we welcome visitors in the heart of the community, is one of only 14 buildings in South West London shortlisted for a prestigious RIBA Award.

A stunned Sam Kamleh says:

“Park Lane Stables represents the perfect convergence of community spirit, architectural thoughtfulness, and our shared passion for horses and people.

The project’s inclusive ethos meant that every brick in the building was a testament to collaboration, literally embodied in the engraved bricks in the front wall. While modest in scale, the project reflects the extraordinary dedication of our client and the entire community. We are honoured to have partnered with Natalie O’Rourke and the Trustees to create a building that serves as a source of pride for all who use it and support it.

To be shortlisted for an award for an equestrian facility in what is particularly auspicious timing—the Year of the Fire Horse—makes this recognition even more meaningful.”

Whatever the outcome, we are so delighted that Sam and her team have been recognised, standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the UK’s biggest architectural practices.

Back in November 2022 we revealed Sam’s plans for the build. Take a look back at See the architect’s plans for the refurbished Park Lane Stables in Teddington
