Meet Arun, one of our superstar volunteers!

Arun volunteers five days a week and is a calm, quiet presence. He also happens to be super-strong so becomes even more popular when heavy hay bales need moving!

Horses are great judges of character, and we’ve noticed that even nervous horse Mabel completely trusts him. So what brought Arun to Park Lane Stables?

Arun was first diagnosed with mental health problems when he was five years old, so has plenty of first-hand experience of difficult situations, coping strategies, and various mental health services. His own struggles to find mental wellbeing mean that he can relate to vulnerable participants on their own mental health journey. His ability to connect with them helps to bring them out of themselves, and his role of trusted volunteer with the Park Lane team make him a fantastic role model.

“Park Lane Stables has been amazing for me, it’s become my life and has allowed me to focus on what I love, which is being with horses and helping people. When I’m here I can leave behind any struggles that I may be having and just be myself, focused on being part of the team and making sure that our participants have the best time we can offer.”

If you come along to Park Lane Stables, do say hello to Arun!

Our fabulous volunteers give their time freely, but they all rely on the equipment and the horse feed and care that we have to pay for through fundraising. If you’d like to contribute, just head to our Donate page. It’s amazing how quickly lots of small amounts really add up and help fund our running costs. Thank you!
