“Before I could even walk, my nanny used to take me to the stables and I would sit on horses.”

From first visits, to Pony Camp 2026, this is one teenager’s personal story of why Park Lane matters to her.

By Cleo Bird

This summer I went to pony camp at Pachesham Farm with Park Lane Stables RDA and I had an amazing time.

My favourite part was riding Fanta. She was such a lovely horse and I really enjoyed spending time with her and doing some jumping. One thing I am really proud of is that I have started cantering. It didn’t always go perfectly, but I enjoyed having a go and it made me feel more confident as a rider.

I also loved meeting new people at camp. Everyone was really friendly and I enjoyed learning about their interests and spending time together. By the end of the week it felt like we had known each other for ages.

When we weren’t riding, we did lots of other activities. Swimming, trampolining, gym classes and games were all great. The trampoline sessions were especially fun because they helped us practise balance and confidence in a different way. We spent lots of time laughing together.

Park Lane Stables has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Before I could even walk, my nanny used to take me to the Stables and I would sit on horses with Natalie. Over the years, being around horses has become one of my favourite things, and Park Lane one of my favourite places to be.

At the Stables it’s always about what I CAN do, and that has made a huge difference to me

I was born with a limb difference on my left hand, but I have never let that stop me doing things. Riding has helped me become much more confident and Natalie and the team have always encouraged me to be brave and try new things. They have never focused on what I can’t do. Instead, it’s always about what I can do, and that has made a huge difference to me.

Being around horses helps me feel calm and relaxed. I love being outside, spending time in nature and helping around the Stables. It is somewhere I feel comfortable and happy. Whenever I am around the horses, I feel more confident and at ease.

What makes Park Lane special is the people. Natalie and the whole team are always kind, welcoming and supportive, and I have so many friends. Even though I live in Solihull, every time I visit we just pick up where we left off and have fun.

Pony camp helped me improve my riding skills, but it also helped me build confidence, make new friends and create lots of happy memories. I am really grateful to everyone at the Stables and Pachesham Farm for making it such a great experience.

I had the best time and I am definitely coming back next year – all the way from Solihull!
