Dan runs the Wimbledon Half Marathon

If you don’t know Dan, he’s one of our most committed participants and volunteers. Almost always seen with a huge smile on his face, Park Lane Stables is definitely his happy place. You’ll often find him tenderly grooming one of the ponies, or sneaking in a restorative pony cuddle.

Dan is also an excellent runner, so it won’t surprise you to hear that he ran the Wimbledon Half Marathon on Sunday 29 October. What you may not know is that he had a guide runner alongside him, because Dan is visually impaired. That adds a whole new level of challenge to the traditional ones of being fit enough and brave enough to sign up for a marathon!

Dan asked us to set up a JustGiving site on his behalf, with a (modest, we think you’ll agree) £250 fundraising target for Park Lane Stables. We would love to see Dan’s target blown out of the water as we know just how wide his smile would be! Can you help us to do that? Even small donations will add up to make a BIG difference to the total. The marathon may be over, with Dan and the rest of the plucky runners soaking wet and covered in mud, but the page is still accepting donations.

Here is Dan’s JustGiving page.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2023

What happened next? We asked if you could help blow Dan’s target of £250 out of the water, and you got it up to £1,268 in just a couple of days! Dan and all of us would like to say thank you so much (and the page is still accepting donations if you haven’t yet but want to…)
