Prodney’s Blog: Why scratching is better than patting

Generations of riders have been taught to pat their horse to thank them. So it’s hardly surprising that you’re all patting away like it’s going out of fashion.

Don’t get me wrong, we appreciate being thanked and we know it’s your way of doing it. (Bless...) But if you want to communicate in our language, try scratching us instead.

As you can see in this video, I asked Natalie (who speaks fluent horse) to explain why.
